DuctWatch IR Gas Detector (PIRDUCT)

The Model PIRDUCT DuctWatch is an infrared (IR) based flammable gas detection solution, designed for combustion turbine enclosure monitoring and similar air handling ductwork applications.

The DuctWatch IR gas detector is easy to install and commission, and does not require expensive extractive sampling system hardware. Providing a full scale measurement range of 0 to 15% LFL (0 to 7500 ppm) methane vapor concentration, the PIRDUCT delivers a new level of flammable hydrocarbon gas protection for high airflow environments. The PIRDUCT assembly is designed for mounting on any flat surface, and is provided pre-assembled with an aluminum mounting plate, seal gasket, and electrical termination junction box. A minimum internal duct width of 3 feet (1 meter) is required for proper installation.

Additionally, the PIRDUCT is six times more sensitive to combustible gas than a conventional IR point detector and improves detection in applications where air stratification can occur.

The PIRDUCT optical probe is inserted through the duct wall and spans across the duct interior, allowing moving air to pass into the detection chamber for analysis of hydrocarbon vapor concentration. It is well suited for retrofit replacement of point detectors and is, in essence, an IR beam detector delivered in a pre-aligned, ready to install package. The key advantages delivered by PIRDUCT include the ability to reliably and accurately measure gas concentration across air ductwork without the costly maintenance headache of sampling systems and expensive installation costs.The PIRDUCT is 6 times more sensitive to combustible gas than a conv​entional IR point detectors, and optimizes detection in applications where air stratification can occur.Typical applications include:
