Infrared carbon dioxide detection is one of the most reliable methods for monitoring CO₂ concentrations in industrial environments. The core components of R.C. Systems’ infrared CO₂ detectors include a light source, measurement chamber, interference filter, and IR detector. These elements work together to measure CO₂ by transmitting infrared light through a sample of gas. Specialized filters block out all wavelengths except those absorbed by CO₂, allowing the detector to calculate gas concentration with precision.

Unlike electrochemical sensors, the performance of an infrared CO₂ detector is unaffected by changes in temperature, pressure, or humidity. This makes it an excellent choice for environments with variable conditions, such as food processing facilities, fermentation plants, or boiler rooms.

IR CO₂ sensors are also more resistant to sensor poisoning and degradation over time, ensuring long-term reliability and lower maintenance requirements compared to traditional sensor types.
